Nothing I've tried with the scarf is working out the way that I hoped, so I decided to take the while yarn and add two rounds to each square, and then I'll join them together. Now it's looking like in my mind, except for the added size, so I think I'm going to make it single squares instead of 2/row...but that means the scarf will be that much longer and I don't have to crochet a bajillion more to get the length I want.

The multicolored silk looks really nice surrounded by the shiny white cotton, which almost looks iced. I's happy with it.

I just started assembling my scarf...it's not turning out the way I had hoped, but it's not terrible so I'm going to put a few more pieces together and see how it progresses. It does look kinda cool in a way- the part where I've joined the squares, I didn't slipstitch them, I crocheted them along one edge of each square, holding them together, and single crocheting alternating between the edges of the squares so that on one side there's the seam and on the other it almost looks like they're joined by a zipper. I think I might actually just need to crochet a few rounds around the outside of every set of joined squares to get it to look more like I wanted....that's easy enough. I do like the yarn I'm using for the assembly. It's not silk, it's a cotton yarn with a nylon thread running through it so it's got just a bit of a shine to it. I debated between using black or white and decided on white. So far, not too bad.
