Mum isn't doing too well, she want Sophie (my sister) and I to come around for the "Mummy may not be here much longer" talk before she goes in for brain surgery to repair an aneurism.

As a result I've barely been online, and have also spent a fair amount of time away from work.

It hasn't been the most pleasant of times of late, but I'm back at work now, and mum's surgery has been postponed because the Australian hospital system is grossly inadequate.

I've just applied for one of the seniors roles going at work.

So far I am one of twelve people who made it to stage 4 (of 5) of the application process. I know of one person who has dropped out at this stage, so there are now eleven of us left.

We had 30 people who made it to stage 3. I have no idea how many people applied.

This position is the main thing stopping me from looking for another job.
