Well, I can't be that severely injured. I walked down to Grandma's Candles, and then to the Harbor. Filled out some applications, and when I decided I was tired of writing, collected some more t bring home and fill out, I'll take them back tomorrow or Thursday. A coupoe of places including Yankee Candles said they'd give me a call in the next day or two.

Startbucks is having a job fair coming up...which means either they just need a lot of help, or they're opening a new place in the area. People make fun of Starbucks, but seriously...have you checked out their corporate social responsibility information? And they make health insurance available to part time employees as well as full time and...and...besides, despite usually getting my coffee from a local shop like XS or the Daily Grind, I do like their coffee.

I had a blast working for Starschmucks. The benefits start after so many days if you work a minimum of 20 hours a week, plus a free pound of coffee or tea per week, and free drinks while working.

[livejournal.com profile] _ladeda_ is a Starbucks alum and would be an excellent resource re: the job and the corporate social responsibility angle.

Yah, any company that gives you health insurance for only working 20 hours a week is ok with me. :)

Feh, Starbucks. I worked there one miserable week last February (managers couldn't keep my schedule and location straight even hour-to-hour, let alone day to day), and it took many calls to the corporate office to get my pay for that week in May.

I've heard that Starbucks is one of the most employee friendly corporations out there today. Their standard of ethics seems quite inspiring.

Starbucks was one of the most fair companies I ever dealt with. The insurance is very good, my manager and co-workers were decent, and they honored my request for a set schedule. The customers, on the other hand, drove me almost insane and that's why I left. But I guess you can't serve coffee without anyone to serve it to :/

I liked working AT Starbucks, but I finally had to leave after a year because I couldn't stand working FOR my manager. My current data entry job is having issues since it used to be owned by Fleet Bank and now Bank of America is finally imposing its will on it over a year after the merger. That and it's a 30 mile commute each way as gas prices go ever higher. I'm considering applying for the new Starbucks that's opening around the end of the summer near the intersection of I-84 and Rte 9... it looks like it's going to have a drive thru! The only thing holding me back is I won't be guaranteed weekends off if I do it.

Annoying job with a fixed weekday schedule, or fun job that has varying hours? *sigh*
