Hmmmmm....
Oct. 27th, 2004 10:51 amI want to have a birthday party. Do I ask off work the saturday closest to my birthday for it, or do I just make sure to do what I need to do in advance so I don't need to ask for the day off? Or do I go halfway and ask for half the day off?
I know I want off Christmas Eve so I don't need to travel Christmas Day up to PA...if my schedule stays as is, I will have off the 2 days after Christmas as well.
I think I really want to take off work for Winter Solstice...if I do that I know i'll have to cite religious observance....not that I have a problem with doing that, if I do, I will have legitemate plans. I did that back at Summer Solstice...having never requested off of work before on an odd day citing religious observance, I felt a bit weird but there as no issue and since there were no time off slots available, Mike was extra happy that I volunteered to work half the day instead of taking the whole day.
I guess what I feel a little odd about is what I see as me randomly picking and choosing which days I am observing. But what it comes down to I guess is what days actually mean somethign to me. Which...solstices do. If I too off other days that didn't, I would be a hypocrite or something. Really lame at least.
And speaking of holidays...i got this one in my email from Jill...National Celibacy Day
