Interesting article about the translation of the Gospel of Judas released in 2006. It's fairly long, just so you know, but probably worth reading for anyone with an interest in the subject. It discusses how one scholar believes that there are massive translation errors after working on a translation of her own, as well as some of the more questionable actions taken by the National Geographic Society in getting the manuscript translated.

I remember reading not this article but another one discussing the translation errors. They specified certain words that were mistranslated. I wish I could remember what they were, the article was such a long time ago, but I remember thinking and other people discussing the faults in both National Geographic and DeConick's translations. I believe the gist of it was both of them failed to take into account how the word would have been translated in the past, with past sensiblities and in account for culture. It was a word or phrase that has been 'corrupted' per say, over the years, and the meaning changed.

I wish I could find that article....But I do remember not being impressed by DeConick's work--but I'm not familiar with her other works, excluding the Gospel of Judas.

Okay, I'm done rambling. I should probably shower :). You could have my arguing about the Gospel of Judas and Gnostic philosophy/religion all day!
